This section explains how to do the following:
Scheduling Tasks
Unscheduling a Task
Dragging and Copy-Dragging Tasks
Reordering tasks in the Project View
Task Order in the Daily Tasks List
A task is "scheduled" when it has a date or time assigned to it. There are several ways to schedule tasks.
Note: A scheduled task cannot have subtasks created under it.
- When you add a task in the Appointment grid, the date and time are automatically filled in.
- When you add a task in the Daily Tasks List, or the Weekly or Monthly Views, the date is automatically filled in.
- When you add a task in the Project View, neither the date nor time are automatically filled in.
When you drag-and-drop a task from one location to another, the task takes on the schedule information (date/time) of the new location.

You can clear the Date and Times fields of a task by clicking the UnSchedule button on the General tab of the Add/Edit Tasks dialog.
The UnSchedule button clears the Date, Start Time and End Time fields. If the task had been previously saved, it will now appear only in the Project View (whether it was originally created in the Project View or not).
Note: If the task is a repeating task, it will continue to be shown in the Daily Tasks List and Project View as a repeating task.
If you schedule a task and want to unschedule it and you haven't done any other ADD Planner action, you can use the Edit | Undo command from the Menu bar, or enter Ctrl-z.

Dragging and Copy-Dragging Tasks
In cases where you want to keep the original schedule information, use a copy-drag instead. To copy-drag, simply hold down the Ctrl key while you drag the task to its new location. You will then have the original unscheduled task plus a scheduled copy of the task in the Project View.
The following example shows the Project View and Daily View after copy-dragging "30-Minute countdown reminder" from the Project View to the Daily View.
When you drag a task to a new location in the Project View, it always appears as the last item in its "branch." To change the order of tasks within branches, select the task and use the Shift-arrow_key.
- Shift-Up_arrow moves a task upward within a branch.
- Shift-Down_arrow moves a task downward within a branch.
- Shift-Left_arrow moves the highlighting (which task is selected) to the next higher level; if the highlighted item is an expanded branch, the branch is collapsed before the highlighting moves to the next higher level.
- Shift-Right_arrow moves the highlighting to the next lower level; if the highlighted item is a collapsed branch, the branch is expanded before the highlighting moves to the next lower level.
Task Order in the Daily Tasks List
Tasks are displayed in the Daily Tasks List in this order:
- Priority order
- Appointment time
- Alphabetically - upper case, then lower case
Category icons do not affect the task order.
Note: The task order cannot be changed "manually" (by dragging tasks.
