  • Mission Statement

The primary mission of Wolf in the Moon Software is to serve the needs of our communities with products that support health and efficiency.

Our secondary purpose is to build a company that is driven by input from its customers, that respects its employees, and whose business decisions reflect our commitment to integrity.

    Company Profile

Wolf in the Moon Software, Inc. is located in Portland, Oregon and makes ADD Planner and Stretch Minute software. Wolf in the Moon Software is a woman-owned business founded in 1996 and is privately held.

    Founders

    Katherine Wolfe, President and CEO

Katherine Wolfe has more than 20 years experience in the design and engineering of computer systems for business. Her background includes engineering positions with a wide variety of companies, including Intel, Hewlett-Packard, M&M Mars, and Chevron, and management positions with several software companies. Wolfe's chief professional interests have been in usability and computer-human interface design, in the integration of computer systems with human systems, and in the ability of software to support people in improving their health and effectiveness.

As President and CEO, Wolfe leads the long-term direction of the company. In addition, she acts as Chief Architect and Director of Design, directly overseeing the design of products and services.

Stretch Minute and ADD Planner were originally created by Wolfe to meet the personal challenges of a devastating back injury and a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Disorder. Both programs have been embraced by Wolf in the Moon customers as valuable tools to enhance wellness and personal growth.

    Susan A. Baer, Vice-President

Susan Baer has worked in hi-tech since 1979, in computer hardware, software, and training. She has won seven awards from the Society for Technical Communications (STC).

Baer's chief responsibilities at Wolf in the Moon are sales and marketing. She is also the driving force in developing animated online training modules.

Baer helped develop Stretch Minute because of chronic "mouse shoulder" - a computer-caused injury to her rotator cuff. She was diagnosed with ADD as a child and rediagnosed in 1994. She and Katherine Wolfe designed ADD Planner because existing planners did not meet their needs as adults with ADD.

    Our View of ADD

We think "Attention Deficit Disorder" is a poor name for our condition. People with ADD don't have a deficiency of attention, we have an abundance of attention – to things we find interesting! We are not deficient or defective, it's just that our brains work differently than ordinary people's brains. Using terms like "deficit," "disorder," and "(learning) disability" reinforces the idea that we are flawed and inferior specimens of humanity. (No wonder so many ADD people grow up with low self-esteem!)

So let's not call ordinary people "normal" because that implies that we're abnormal and we're not, no more so than left-handed people are abnormal. ADD people are not ordinary – we're extraordinary!

Ordinary people are always being told "think outside the box." ADD people say "What box?" We excel in creative, right-brain thinking; it's the boring, ordinary "inside the box" stuff that we find hard.

Having ADD is both a gift and a challenge. It is not easy. But when ADD people put their minds together, we can think up things that ordinary people would never imagine – and that kind of thinking is what the world desperately needs to solve its problems.
