Pocket PC Synchronization Set Up

This section covers the following topics:

  • Setting Up ActiveSync on the Pocket PC

  • Saving Files to the Synchronization Directory

  • Synchronization Considerations

  • ADD Planner performs a task-level merge of the PC and Pocket PC .apf files. The ADD Planner Synchronization Module synchronizes all ADD Planner files in the directory you choose.

Setting Up ActiveSync on the Pocket PC

    1. Open Microsoft ActiveSync, and click on the Options button. Choose the "Sync Options" tab, and check "ADD Planner Files".

    2. Synchronization options

    3. Choose a Synchronization Directory. Click the Settings button. You will see the default directory for ADD Planner synchronization. If you want to change this, click on the button to the right of the directory name, and choose an existing directory. When you save a file in ADD Planner to this directory, it will be automatically sync'ed with the Pocket PC.

Saving Files to the Synchronization Directory

    1. Open a new or existing .apf file in ADD Planner, and save it to the synchronization directory.

Note: Simply copying an existing file to the synchronization directory doesn't work; a file has to be saved from ADD Planner for it to be synchronized.

    2. Connect your Pocket PC to its cradle and run synchronization.

    3. Open ActiveSync and click on Explore. You should see the new file on the Pocket PC. If you don't, select View | Refresh in the Mobile Device window to refresh the display.

    4. If you do not see the file appear on the Pocket PC, save it again, and synchronize.
