You Know What a Typical ADHD Morning Is Like ...
How would you like your day to start like this instead?
You're lying in bed asleep. Instead of the alarm clock going off, your favorite music begins to play on a wireless speaker, and a voice says "Good morning. It is now 6:30 AM." (Click the speaker for an example voice):
Five minutes later, the voice says "It is time to sit up and take your meds now." |
| At 6:40, the music becomes more upbeat.
At 6:45, the voice says "It is now 6:45. It is time to take your shower. If you did not take your meds yet, take them now."
You get up and head to the bathroom. You continue listening to the music on the wireless speaker in the bathroom.
At 7 AM, the voice says "It is now 7 AM. You have to leave for work in 30 minutes." The music changes to The Beatles' "Good Morning."
You go to the kitchen for coffee and something to eat. You can hear the music from the wireless speaker in the living room.
At 7:10, the voice says "You have to leave for work in 20 minutes."
At 7:15, the voice says "You have to leave for work in 15 minutes. Check your computer for things you need to take with you." You put down the paper and go to the computer and there is a Word file open with a list of items you want to take to the office.
You print the spreadsheet and save the file to your keychain drive. You then check your email.
At 7:20, the voice says "You have to leave for work in 10 minutes."
At 7:25, the voice says "You have to leave for work in five minutes. Do you have everything you planned to take?" You put your printouts into a folder and put the folder and keychain drive in your briefcase.
At 7:30, the voice says "It is time to leave for work now."
At 7:35, the voice says "If you haven't left yet, stop whatever you're doing and leave RIGHT NOW!"
And at 7:45, you're on the road with everything you need for the 8:30 status meeting. |
