ADD Planner Update Page

Note: ADD Planner 1.5.0 includes a Daily Plan in the Templates subdirectory. To see the Daily Plan, right-click on "Projects" and select Add a Template Task from the menu. Select "Daily Plan" in the dialog and hit OK.

This page contains two procedures:

• ADD Planner Update for PC only or PC and Palm
• ADD Planner Update for PC and Pocket PC

ADD Planner Update for PC only or PC and Palm

1. Close any running instances of ADD Planner.

2. If you are updating from a version prior to 1.4.0 and want to use spoken reminders, you need to download and install the ADD Planner Speech Components Installer.

   When prompted during download whether to open the file or save to disk, choose "Save" and save the ADD Planner Speech installer file to the root of your C: drive (i.e., to C:\ADDPlannerSpeech.msi).

3. Download the Update Installer.

   Choose "Save" and save the update installer file to the root of your C: drive.

4. Open Microsoft's My Computer on the desktop (or use Windows Explorer), locate the downloaded ADD Planner Speech Components Installer file, and double-click it. The installer will run.
5. After the speech components are installed, double-click on the downloaded ADD Planner Update Installer file. The installer will run.
6. You will be prompted twice: first that ADD Planner exists and do you want to continue - click yes.

   

   And second, do you want to use the default install directory - click yes.

   

7. By default, the installer updates ADD Planner for the PC; if you want to update ADD Planner for Palm OS, be sure to select that option as shown here.

   

8. The installer should next show the location where you installed ADD Planner as the location it will install the update - if it doesn't, use 'Browse' to navigate to the correct location. The default location is C:\Program Files\Wolf in the Moon Software\ADD Planner.



9. When you're satisfied that everything is correct, choose "Next", and the installer will install ADD Planner on the selected platforms (PC, or PC and Palm).

   If you are also updating the Palm device, you will see additional installation screens. Choose Yes to all file replacement prompts. The Palm will update the next time you run HotSync.

ADD Planner Update for PC and Pocket PC

1. Close any running instances of ADD Planner.

2. Reset your Pocket PC to clear working memory (see your Pocket PC User's Guide for more details) and put it into its cradle.
3. To install the ADD Planner for Pocket PC Update, you will need to temporarily turn off synchronization of ADD Planner files so that the sync provider dll can be replaced:
1. Right click on the ActiveSync icon in the task bar, and select "Open Microsoft ActiveSync" from the menu.
2. Click on the Options button in the toolbar above the Pocket PC's name.



3. On the Options dialog, un-check ADD Planner Files in the list of available file types.



4. Click OK.

   And second, do you want to use the default install directory - click yes.

   

9. By default, the installer updates ADD Planner for the PC; if you want to update ADD Planner for the Pocket PC, be sure to check that option as shown below.

   

10. The installer should show the location where you installed ADD Planner as the location it will install the update. The default location when you're updating the Pocket PC version is C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\ADD Planner. If you installed the Microsoft ActiveSync directory somewhere else, use 'Browse' to navigate to the correct location.
11. When you're satisfied that everything is correct, choose "Next", and the installer will install ADD Planner on the PC and Pocket PC.

    Note: When updating ADD Planner for the Pocket PC, you may get a message that the Today.DLL (or maybe some other .DLL) is still running and you have to halt it to finish the update - you don't! Click No instead of Retry if you see that message.

12. When the installation on the PC and Pocket PC is complete,
    1. Remove the Pocket PC from its cradle and reset it.
    2. Next go to the Microsoft ActiveSync Options Dialog and select the checkbox next to ADD Planner, then click on OK.

       

    3. Replace the Pocket PC in its cradle. It should synchronize.
